SCENIC SPOTS + HIKES
  • Mountain Top Arboretum - Natural sanctuary and living museum of flora and fauna across 179 acres; plenty of tranquil trails. Our trails interconnect with theirs to expand your hiking possibilities!
  • Kaaterskill Falls - One of the tallest waterfalls in New York, and one of America’s oldest tourist attractions.
  • Fire Tower at Hunter Mountain - Take Skyride to the summit and follow DEC trail markers. Allow three hours for this four mile loop.
  • North-South Lake + Escarpment Trail - Biggest campground in Greene County; hiking, camping, swimming, boat rentals, and stunning panoramic views. The Escarpment trail loop covers 4.79 scenic miles.
  • Indian Head Mountain Loop - Relatively strenuous 7.8 mile circuit with spectacular views from summit.
  • The Windham Path - Beautiful two mile loop with streams and foot bridges.


Our Hiking Trails

Take to the trails on one of the many hiking trails across our 168 acre property - mountaintop views included! Worth the mileage in any season (and snowshoes and cleats provided upon request for those winter adventures)!

  • Greenville Drive-In - Old-school drive-in theater around since the 1950s showing classics and contemporary films. Snack shack and beer garden too! *Closed during winter months*
  • Olana - Historic estate of Hudson River School painter Frederic Church. House tours and walking gardens plus stunning views of the river below and the mountains beyond.
  • Orpheum Performing Arts Center - World-class music, dance, and film screenings.
  • Opus 40 - Impressive outdoor stone sculpture park built by Harvey Fite in a former quarry.
  • Storm King Art Center - An open-air museum in New Windsor, NY, which contains perhaps the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States.
  • Thomas Cole House - This national historic site was home to Thomas Cole, founder of the Hudson River School.

Snow
  • Snowshoes - Stop by the front desk to borrow a pair of snowshoes, then take on our miles of winter wonderland.
  • Hunter Mountain - Just 15 minutes down the road is access to the Hunter Mountain Ski Resort. Ski and snowboard all day, then come defrost by our fireplace with a warm cocktail.
  • Windham Mountain Club - A little further down the road (20 minutes) is Windham, where you can take to the slopes. In the summertime, they offer exciting mountain biking trails.
Swim
  • Colgate Lake - Located just down the road from us, this lake is perfect for a summertime dip or paddle.
  • Kaaterskill Falls - Take a short hike down from the top of the falls parking area to reach the first pool.
  • Rip Van Winkle Lake - Rent a canoe or Kayak at Tannersville Boathouse to enjoy our local lake right in town.

We recommend double checking business hours before heading out, as things can shift seasonally in our lovely little mountain town.
