Deer Mountain Inn welcomes you to enjoy the original works of art on display in our public spaces, including our Reception and Dining Room. We hope this Art Collection Guide will illuminate the marvelous lives of the artists represented in The Royce Collection. These works were acquired expressly for Deer Mountain Inn and represent 19th century artists of the early Hudson River School and those that followed in their footsteps, many who explored the Catskill Mountain trails and the grand vistas of The Hudson River.

Deer Mountain Inn’s Art Collection and Interiors are inspired by the lives of the artists, writers and social reformers who were drawn here to live a bohemian lifestyle in nature, free from strict social mores and worldly demands.
Through the vision of the artists represented here, you will learn about other fascinating 19th century personalities through our curated Art Guide. Within the guide we also offer suggestions for cultural day trips where you can visit historical sites and see how these 19th century luminaries lived and worked.
